Remove top of concertina |
Locate offending reed |
If the top of your concertina
does not come right off, insert a dull knife between the leather and the wood to assist. |
pull out the reed pan, flip it
over and set it back on the bellows |
loosen the brass screws holding
the reed frame. The steel reeds you see now are the "push" notes. The "pull" notes are on the underside of the reed frame. You will note a small diagonal line on one corner of the push reed frame. |
I secured the reedframe to my
tuning platen, the setting adjustments can be done freehand. ( I had to
manage the camera and the knife at the same time.) |
Use a dull knife, if you please
|
Slip the blade under the steel reed and slide it toward the base of the reed. |
Use the dull knife to lever the reed up at the base. Steel reeds are pretty tough, you can see here the reed returns to its original position |
|
Here I have levered the reed up a good bit to get higher reed set. |
|
You can use an awl or small screwdriver to lower the reed set. |
